Youthline Southland seeks more volunteers
30 September, 2013
Youthline Southland is seeking compassionate people to help change young lives in the region.
The next rounds of volunteer workshops are due to kick off on October 5 and 6 followed by another set on October 12 and 13.
Youthline Southland Youth Development worker Gemma Bell said she is looking for compassionate, reliable and enthusiastic volunteer staff of all ages 18 and over to join Youthline Southland.
“We offer a high-quality training programme, with good clinical supervision and support for those who volunteer. The training will cover a personal development component and then move onto basic counselling skills which will be the basis for preparing the volunteer for a transitional period onto our helpline,” Gemma said.
Youthline Southland provides helpline services to local youth and the rest of the country through our national telephone and text network. Text counselling continues to be the most popular medium of support, with over 200,000 texts received nationally, each year.
“So come along and be part of a cool organisation which is all about changing lives,” Gemma said.
