The Warehouse customers donate $165,694 to Youthline

Media Release

Wednesday 27 August, 2014

Youthline’s national youth helpline will be given a boost from The Warehouse following a successful in-store pen campaign.

Between 4 June and 5 July over 80,000 Youthline stylus pens were sold at The Warehouse counters throughout New Zealand.  As well as sales from pens in store, $4,550 was donated to Youthline by The Warehouse Cardholders through money earned from their rewards points.

Youthline’s national spokesperson, Stephen Bell says young people will reap the rewards.

“Each year we manage over 430,000 contacts via our youth helpline and text support service,  and it costs $800,000 per year to keep the service running. This campaign will have a significant impact as profits raised will equate to almost 10 per cent of our Helpline’s annual costs.”

“We’re really proud to have partnered with The Warehouse and are very grateful for their support,” says Mr Bell.

The Warehouse GM of Community and Environment, Paul Walsh said supporting young people in the community is essential to The Warehouse.

“Youthline was one of our five national partners during our last financial year so it’s fantastic to see our stores and our customers pull together to support their fantastic Helpline service.

“Investing in stronger communities is part of our DNA and we know this money is going to a cause that helps young people all over New Zealand,” says Mr Walsh.
